"The whole life of a Religious is contained in the motto of Saint Francis:

MY GOD AND MY ALL."

Father Bonaventure, P.C.P.A. Founder

Before beginning to discern with us, we want to fill you in on the uniqueness of our situation.  We are currently cloistered nuns without a cloister.  Perhaps you've noticed that from some of the photos on the website.  We are in the process of building a new Monastery and Chapel in Tonopah, Arizona.  In the meantime, we are living in a house owned by the Diocese of Phoenix in Black Canyon City.

We have limited amount of space in the house (we are able to accept 2 more vocations).  However we will be building for 28 nuns in the new Monastery.  So we ask for your prayers as we strive to turn this dream into a reality.   It might be noted as well that the uniqueness of our current endeavor requires a special call within a call.  We like to say that a pliable pioneering spirit is required.  Beginning a new Foundation from the ground up is full of challenges...and great rewards!

  • Who do I contact?  OK, so you've reached the point where you are really thinking, wondering, questioning your vocation.  You've come across our website and are ready to take the first step.  DO NOT BE AFRAID!  It's all quite simple.  Just send our vocation directress, Sr. Mary Fidelis, an email at vocations@desertnuns.com
  • What do I say?  That's simple too.  Just tell her a bit about yourself - your age, how long you've been discerning, and ask any questions you might have about Religious Life and specifically any questions you might have about our way of life as PCPAs.
  • Where do I go from there?  Sister will get in touch with you and begin corresponding via e-mail.  It's just taking one little step at a time.  This step-by-step process will help you get acquainted with our Community, as well as allowing our Community a chance to get to you know.
  • When can I make a visit?  Typically visits are arranged after several e-mails/phone conversations and after an initial application is filled out.  If after all of this it seems that a visit is in order, the aspirant would come to visit for 2-3 days to get a taste of what the life is like first-hand.  From there, a longer visit might be arranged.  For local aspirants, sometimes there are COME AND SEE mornings which afford the opportunity to meet the Sisters, pray with us, and ask questions.  If you are interested in being part of a local COME AND SEE, click here.
