On June 10, 2007, the Church celebrated the
Solemnity of Corpus Christi. As Poor Clares of
Perpetual Adoration, this is one of our primary
Feast Days. Our life is dedicated to the
adoration of Our Blessed Lord, truly Present in the
Most Holy Eucharist. This year we were blessed to
have Fr. Rob Clements celebrate the Mass of Corpus
Christi for us, as well as lead us in a Eucharistic
Procession around the grounds of Our Lady of
Solitude. Below are some photos from the
event. Let us pray for a renewed and ever
increasing devotion in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
"In life today, which is often
noisy and scattered, it is more important than ever
to recover the capacity for interior silence and
recollection: Eucharistic adoration permits one to
do this not only within one's 'I' but rather in the
company of that 'You' full of love who is Jesus
Christ, 'the God who is near us.'" - Pope Benedict

On June 29, 2007, Solemnity of
Saints Peter and Paul, the Dominican Sisters of
Mary, Mother of the Eucharist added 4 perpetually
professed to their vibrant and growing Order! |
|
Our Community had the opportunity
to get to know two of these Sisters (Sr. Mary
Magdalene and Sr. Mary David) over the course of the
past year, as they taught school at St. Mary's high
school in Phoenix and resided at St. Thomas the
Apostle Catholic Church in Scottsdale, along with 2
other members of their Community (Sr. Martin Therese
and Sr. Maria Christi).
The Providential ways of Our Lord
never cease to amaze and excite us! We
witnessed this first hand as three of us (Sr. Marie
Andre, Sr. Mary Fidelis, and Sr. Augustine Marie)
were blessed to be able to attend the Final
Profession in Ann Arbor. |

As we had some business to attend
to in Detroit, we were able to tack on the side trip
to Ann Arbor to be present for this beautiful
celebration!
Our own Bishop Olmsted was also
able to attend the Profession (and give the homily
at the Mass), along with three of our local priests
(Fr. Jim Wall, Fr. Don Kline, and Fr. John Ehrich)
and a handful of the Phoenix lay faithful. It
was a beautiful gesture of support and gratitude for
these wonderful Sisters.
The Dominican Sisters of Mary, in
the loving and capable hands of Mother Assumpta,
have grown at an astounding rate since their
founding only 10 years ago in 1997. Let us
continue to pray that every Catholic school will
soon be blessed to have Sisters at the helm once
again - feeding our starving youth the solid food of
truth!
