Shadow Stories

Noteable Teams:

  • Team Kingdom Runners - 28 runners. Be sure to read their full story!
  • Team Meinrad - 15 runners. Be sure to read their full story!
  • Team DC Roamin' Catholics - 10 walkers. This group of walkers used this event as a pseudo pilgrimage. Praying the Rosary as they walked through the capital, they stopped at the National Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and the Poor Clares of Perpetual Adoration Monastery in DC
  • Team Run Fast Mommy - 14 runners. Most of these parents were with their young ones, many of whom were in strollers!
  • Team Columbus - 20 runners/walkers. This run/walk was organized by none other than Blanche Luczyk - the beloved Aunt of Sr. John-Mark Maria. Thanks Aunt Blanche - you were close to winning the Stanley Nun Trophy, coming in a close second behind Team Kingdom Runners. Maybe next year!
  • Team East Enders - 16 runners. This was our only in-state Shadow Team, to run about 1 hour from us in Chandler, AZ! From the photos they looked like they had a wonderful time. Barbara Guy organized the event from Mercy Gilbert Hospital. What a fun day. Thanks everyone.
  • Team Illinois - 9 runners. This group is made up of many homeschooling parents and children. One of the moms, Eileen, pushed her handicapped daughter Cecilia through the whole race - with the weight of the chair and ventilator coming in at about 100 pounds. She also carried a backpack with the necessary equipment for Cecilia - which weighs in at another 15 pounds. Such is the heroic witness of devoted parents. What a beautiful witness.
  • Team Pennsylvania - 8 runners. This group chose to run the race on Holy Saturday. This is a very significant day for us as it is the patronal feast of our monastery here: Our Lady of Solitude. They met at Haverford College track - some ran the 10K and others did the 5K. This group found out in a very providential way - A CFR friar had the postcard...and handed it out...and the rest is history.
