At long last, we are excited to present to you the preliminary sketches for the stained glass windows of Our Lady of Solitude.  Not all of them are present here, but this is a good introduction.  More to follow soon (which will include the Apostles symbols, which will appear in the dome over the sanctuary, as well as the Angel windows that will be in the cloister adoration chapel)

First these windows highlight some of our Franciscan heritage, as well as Saints whose devotion to the Most Blessed Sacrament is particularly striking.  At the bottom of each window will be a Eucharistic quote from the Saint.  As we hope that Our Lady of Solitude Monastery will be a Haven for Eucharistic  Adoration, you can see why we made the choices we did.

The sketches below were drawn by Mrs. Kostner (the mother of Mr. Alexander Kostner, our woodcarver).  Needless to say there is A LOT of talent in that family!  These sketches are now in the hands of BOVARD STUDIOS, who will actually make renderings for the windows from these sketches and will then make and install the windows.  Click on the thumbnail below to see the larger images, then simply press the BACK button in your browser to return to this page.

Will be located in the cloister Mass chapel.  A unique design that includes a large figure of St. Clare with an outstretched mantle over her spiritual daughters.  From left to right we can trace the history of our PCPA foundation: Mother Marie of St. Clare (PCPA Foundress), Servant of God Mother Mary of the Cross Morawska (took the PCPA's from France to Poland), Mother Agnes (Brought the PCPA's to the USA in the 20's), and finally our very own Mother Mary Angelica (Foundress of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Alabama - our Founding Monastery).

Our Lady of the Guadalupe is the patroness of the Diocese of Phoenix and, even more, the Patroness of the Americas and the Unborn.  Therefore this window which will be located in the sacristy (but will be visible on the public side of the Chapel) is a very important addition to our "up and coming" stained glass collection.

St. Francis and St. Clare hold a special place in the heart of every Franciscan!  Of course, this holds true for the Franciscans of Our Lady of Solitude as well.  In this pair of windows, we honor their intense and inspiring devotion to Our Eucharistic Lord.

Here are two other great and well-beloved Franciscan Saints: St. Anthony of Padua and St. Agnes of Assisi (the younger sister of St. Clare)

These modern day heroes are easy to recognize: St. Pio and St. Faustina!  Our Lady of Czestochowa is featured at the top of St. Faustina's window.

Two great aposles of charity are seen here: Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati (3rd Order Domincan) and Blessed Theresa of Calcutta

(These two were mismatched.  In the actual windows, Bl. Teresa will be with John Paul II, and Bl. Pier Giorgio will be with St. Gianna Beretta Molla)

St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Teresa Benedicta (Edith Stein) are featured in this set of windows.  Both were martyrs under Nazi regime.

Two French Saints are teamed up here - both are awesome examples of the value of a life hidden in the Heart of Jesus:

Blessed Charles de Foucauld

and

St. Thérèse of Lisiuex!

And Finally!  Here is a beautiful depiction of Servant of God John Paul II, the GREAT, with Our Eucharistic King.  Also shown is the great advocate of the Pro-Life cause: St. Gianna Beretta Molla - who sacrificed her life for her unborn child.

More to Come SOON!
